Friday, June 24th, 2011

There are many “Eco-Friendly” activities that one should try when visiting, here along Florida’s Forgotten Coast, but there are only a few that can compare to a day on St. Joe Bay!  Especially when your target species is the infamous Blue Eyed Bivalve, aka, The Succulent St. Joe Bay Scallop!  To properly plan the perfect scalloping excursion, be sure to grab a mask, a snorkel, a pair of fins, a dive flag, and a bring along a little patience in order to have one of the best times of your life!  Once immersed in the warm water, relax and take your time as you snorkel along the clear sandy patches and all along the plentiful grass beds, as this is where you are likely to find one of those succulent St. Joe Bay Scallops!!  They are really easy to spot, as those glowing blue eyes tend to cover the outer edges of the scallop shell!  Once in sight, sneak up behind, and grab ‘em, but just make sure they are at least bigger than 2″ or you may not get enough to eat!!  After a day of fun in the water, the hot n’ tasty meal of fresh St. Joe Bay Scallops is just the “icing on the cake” or the “salt in the water”, so to speak, of just another Day at Play, here along The Forgotten Coast!

Property Sales, here along The Forgotten Coast, continue adding up, as a total of 14 properties SOLD this past week!  1 Wewahitchka Commercial Property, 1 Overstreet Home and 1 Overstreet Vacant Lot, 1 Cape San Blas Beach Home, 2 Port St. Joe Homes, 2 Mexico Beach Homes and 2 Mexico Beach Properties – Vacant Lots, 1 St. Joe Beach Property – Vacant Lot, 1 St. George Island Beach Home, 1 Eastpoint Property, and 1 Carrabelle Coastal Home.  Of these Forgotten Coast Property Sales, 4 transactions closed due to a REO/Foreclosure/Distressed/Short Sale situation and 10, yes TEN, Savvy Buyers paid CASH!!!!

Check out this best buy on a Mexico Beach Condominium!  Located right across the street from the white sands and emerald waters of Mexico Beach, this one has a gulf view community pool, and SOLD for $192,500 CASH!!

Another great buy of the week is this upscale Port St. Joe Home, which is conveniently located only minutes from the pristine waters of St. Joe Bay!  With over 2300 square feet of living area and a gourmet kitchen, the new owners of this Port St. Joe home will be saut’eing scallops in style and have plenty of money to spare, as they bought this one for a mere $200,000 CASH!

Sales on Vacant Lots seem to be picking up as of late and this buy on a Mexico Beach/St. Joe Beach/Beacon Hill Lot, with a sales price of $42,500 CASH is just one more confirmation that CASH is KING!  This great St. Joe Beach Home Site is only a short walk to the white sand beaches and only a 15-20 minute drive to launch your boat and fill up with Scallops in St. Joe Bay!

Interest Rates this week are remaining historically low and unchanged from the previous week, with the 30 Year Fixed @ 4.625%, the 15 Year Fixed @ 3.875%, and the 5/1 ARM @ 4.75%!  After the latest FED meeting, the word is more of the same, as they have suggested not to raise interest rates any time soon.  Yet, creating more opportunity for those looking to buy a Florida Forgotten Coast Beach Home – NOW is a great time to BUY!!

Get ready this weekend, as there are several local events going on and many types of “Forgotten Coast Fun” to be had!  To start off, Scallop Season will open early on Saturday June 25, so pack a cooler, all the snorkel gear, and head out for a day on the Bay!  Also, this weekend, just north of Port St. Joe, in our cozy little town of Wewahitchka, locals and visitors alike will be out on the Fresh Waters of the Apalachicola River in search of the ever popular Flathead Catfish.  Food & Fun will be on tap for all to enjoy and Great Prizes will be given to those bringing in the “big ones”!  Boy do those Catfish get BIG!  Here’s to another Fun-Filled Weekend with Bright Sunshine and Clear Blue Skies along Florida’s Forgotten Coast!
