Hard to believe it is already June 15! So far the weather here has been spectacular and it definitely brings the people out of doors. You can really tell that by driving down Highway 98 from Mexico Beach to Port St. Joe! Sunbathers, water lovers, and house hunters alike are all out and about enjoying the fun and sun and also looking for that perfect beach home!
We are still showing activity in sales with 1 home sold on Mexico Beach, 1 on Cape San Blas, and 2 on St. George Island! Only 1 was a foreclosure, which shows that we are still moving forward with getting those distressed properties off the table so that we may finally return to a more healthy and sustainable real estate market!
Checking in on Interest rates we find that 30 year fixed is up @ 5.59 as well as the 15 year up a bit @5.06. Many thought that when the Fed stepped in last week to buy Treasuries that the rates would remain unchanged. They say they will do it again this week in hopes to slow the climbing rates. Regardless of any news you hear lately – Interest Rates are Still Amazingly LOW and the time to buy your next home or dreamy 2nd home has never been so perfect!!
Now for the fun stuff!! Don’t miss out on the opportunity to catch a big fish-and win a little cash if it’s really big – at the Big Bend Saltwater Classic fishing tournament to be held this coming weekend starting Friday June 19th and ending Sunday June 21st. Go towww.saltwaterclassic.comfor more info! I actually won third place with a Wahoo one year!! Great Time!!
Also, don’t forget to check out the the fresh produce, seafood, and other goodies you can pick up at the Salt Air Farmer’s Market. This weekend the market will be hosted at Frank Pate Park, but in the near future, the market will be hosted at the new City Commons Park which is in the most convenient location on Highway 71 and Reid Avenue in downtown Port St. Joe – Right across the street from my office!! Stop in and get a fresh watermelon before going on the boat – there’s nothing better!
My weekend went really great! We previewed some great properties on Saturday and then on Sunday decided to take off in the boat. We left out of Indian Pass to one of my favorite dive spots just 24 miles offshore. Our good buddy Jimmy went with us! After 3 beautiful dives and swimming to keep up with Will at 80′ feet below, Jimmy, said he definitely won’t be heading to the gym today! Of course, we got a few fish – the flounder were abundant! There’s nothing more fun than swimming on the sand, picking out the silhouette of a delectable flounder, and shooting!!
Here’s to great inventory, low rates, & fair winds!
